Schloss Leitheim stands on a rise above the Danube near Donauwörth, looking out over the Danube and Lech plain. Built as the summer residence of the abbots of nearby Kaisheim monastery, the three-storey square building holds one of the notable Rococo decorative schemes of southern Germany, including a fresco cycle by Gottfried Bernhard Göz depicting the five senses, the four elements and the stages of human life. An arcaded gallery links the main house to St Blaise's church, raised at the same time in the late 17th century.
