To make a day of it
Schloss Oberndorf stands in Oberndorf am Lech (Landkreis Donau-Ries), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Oberndorf stands in Oberndorf am Lech on the site of a medieval Burg that was the seat of the Marschälle von Oberndorf, first recorded in 1342. Bought in 1533 by the Augsburg merchant Raymund Fugger, it was rebuilt by his brother Anton Fugger as a four-winged residence around a courtyard, in a style recalling Augsburg's old town hall. Largely destroyed by fire during the Thirty Years' War, the building today retains only two of its original wings, after its moat was filled in and the ruins levelled in the early nineteenth century. The site is now used mainly for private events and weddings rather than for regular heritage visits.
