To make a day of it

Schloss Pyrbaum stands in Pyrbaum (Landkreis Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 15th century. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Pyrbaum survives only as ruins, on the site of a former manorial residence built in the 15th and 16th centuries at Pyrbaum, Bavaria. Held for nearly four centuries by the lords of Wolfstein, the building was rebuilt in 1493 before being destroyed by an arson fire in 1853. A parish church now stands where the main wing once rose, while a moat with its retaining wall, foundation remains and the base of a round tower from one of the twin gate towers are still visible. A replica of the original founding inscription marks the spot today.
