To make a day of it
Burg Trendelburg stands in Trendelburg (Landkreis Kassel), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 14th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Burg Trendelburg rises above the small town of the same name on the Diemel river in Hesse. Built at the turn of the 14th century by the counts of Schöneberg, it has kept its trapezoidal layout, a massive keep known as the Rapunzel Tower, and stretches of its battlemented walls. Visitors can still trace the rock-cut moat, the gate flanked by two corner towers, and the main building that was raised higher after the Thirty Years' War. Now run as a hotel, the castle is mainly seen from outside, reached by a short climb from Trendelburg's old town.
This place also features in The castles of the Brothers Grimm
