To make a day of it

Schloss Beberbeck stands in Hofgeismar (Landkreis Kassel), in Hesse, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Schloss Beberbeck stands at the edge of the Reinhardswald forest, between Hofgeismar and Sababurg, built as a hunting lodge for Elector William II of Hesse-Kassel. Erected in the 1820s by court architect Johann Conrad Bromeis, the neoclassical building combines a central block topped with a triangular gable, two lower wings with round-arched windows, and an unusual round section facing the street that houses a domed hall known for its acoustics and painted coffered ceiling. The building served for many years as a retirement home until it closed that use in early 2025, and it was also the subject of an ambitious tourism-resort project that ultimately failed.
