Gladbach Castle stands on the banks of the Neffelbach in the municipality of Vettweiß, in the Kreis Düren, North Rhine-Westphalia. The lords of Gladbach, related to the counts of Jülich, are already documented here in 1102, and the estate later passed through inheritance and marriage to several Rhenish noble families. The present buildings date from successive rebuildings after a fire in 1688, with a baroque main wing raised from 1715 on the medieval foundations and an outer bailey added from 1741.
