Schloss Nörvenich, once known as Gymnicher Burg, stands on the edge of the village of Nörvenich, on the foundations of an earlier stronghold dating back to the mid 14th century. The present building, a two storey mansion flanked by wings, took shape through successive building campaigns between around 1400 and the 18th century under the von Vlatten, Scheiffart von Merode and von Gymnich families. Hipped roofs covered in tile, corner turrets with curved slate caps and an 18th century double staircase of honour now define the site's appearance. The building today houses an art museum devoted in part to Arno Breker.
