Burg Hengebach stands in Heimbach (Kreis Düren), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Standing on a ridge above the Rur valley in the Nordeifel, Burg Hengebach has overlooked the town of Heimbach since the Middle Ages. The core of the complex, combining a keep and residential hall, dates from the 12th and 13th centuries, while the outer courtyard, garden and the riverside dwellings belong to a 14th century extension. Gutted by fire in 1687 and later quarried for its stone, the castle underwent several phases of reconstruction in the 20th century. It now houses an international art academy, a wedding hall, a restaurant and lodging.
