Schloss Miel stands in the Swist valley on the edge of Bonn, right by the A61 motorway. Built between 1767 and 1772 for the electoral state minister Caspar Anton von Belderbusch, it follows the plan of a French-style hunting pavilion inspired by the taste of Louis XIV, an unusual form among the country residences built around the former electoral capital. Its most notable feature is the garden hall, decorated with wall paintings by the Bonn court painter François Rousseau. The building and its outbuildings today house a golf club and a restaurant.
