To make a day of it

Burg Müddersheim stands in Vettweiß (Kreis Düren), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Burg Müddersheim stands at the edge of the village of Müddersheim, part of the municipality of Vettweiß, right on the Neffelbach stream. This moated manor owes its present appearance to Rudolf Adolf von Geyr, who had it rebuilt between 1718 and 1720 on the site of a much older stronghold, one first linked in the eleventh century to Queen Richeza of Poland. The brick complex combines a two storey main house with a hipped roof and a three winged outer bailey whose gatehouse, on the south east side, forms the main approach. The estate has remained in the hands of the von Geyr zu Schweppenburg family since the early eighteenth century.
