Burg Großfurra stands in the centre of Großfurra, a district of Sondershausen in the Kyffhäuserkreis, Thuringia. Built in the 11th century as a moated stronghold for the Landgraves of Thuringia, it still has its round, twenty-metre keep set within a two-winged main building. For nearly five hundred years it belonged to the von Wurmb family, before being expropriated, put to communal uses and eventually left empty after 1990. Restored between 1996 and 2004, it now serves as a private residence and company seat for its owner.
