This medieval ruin retains an unusually large share of its original structures, including a tall 12th-century keep and, most notably, a two-storey double chapel from the Staufer period, a rare architectural survival. Remains of a hall building and an unusually thick surrounding wall can still be seen, evidence that the castle was built to rival neighbouring comital residences.
