The present building, erected between 1810 and 1815 for the marquis Douat de La Colonilla, replaced a medieval fortress of which only the 18th century orangery remains. Its facade, with an ionic colonnaded portico and triangular pediment, stands among the most significant neoclassical constructions in the Bordeaux region.
