Restes de l'amphithéâtre dit Palais Gallien stands in Bordeaux (Gironde), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: Gallo-romain, third quarter of the 3rd century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Palais Gallien is the only above-ground trace of ancient Bordeaux, the last remnant of a Gallo-Roman amphitheatre that once held several thousand spectators. What survives is mainly the north-west gate, still standing two storeys of arcades high, along with a curved stretch of wall hinting at the building's former scale. Around it, the oval outline of the arena can still be traced in the surrounding streets and buildings, which were raised over its foundations.
