At Chappes, in the Bourbonnais countryside, the Grand Coudray castle presents a 17th century main building flanked by two round towers inherited from a 15th century stronghold. The moat still surrounds three sides of the courtyard, while a single wall is all that remains of the former right wing. The left tower, once converted into a dovecote, still shows the holes pierced for birds. Privately owned, the site can be visited both outside and inside.
