In the countryside of Calvados, Villeray castle shows an 18th century facade that conceals an older dwelling, reworked over three centuries of building campaigns. The two entrance pavilions decorated with sphinxes stand out, added during the 18th century transformation along with the formal French garden that once accompanied them. A west wing, set at a right angle to the main building, was added in the 19th century.
