The château de Travers stands in Saint-Sandoux, in the Puy-de-Dôme department, on the foundations of a 14th century stronghold of which a round tower survives at the north corner. Building campaigns in the 17th and 18th centuries gave the château its present façades, marked by stone quoins and dormer windows, along with a rusticated orangery set beneath the first terrace. The gardens, redesigned in the 19th century by landscape designer Edouard André, form part of a coherent whole linking the building to its grounds.
