To make a day of it

Château de Savoye stands in Villabon (Cher), in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: limite 15th century 16th century, second half of the 19th century). In Villabon, in the Cher department, the château de Savoye is a rural manor house built at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, later reworked in a neo-Gothic style in the early 20th century. What sets this place apart is less the main house than its grounds: a monumental Dutch-style glasshouse of iron and glass, with a domed central pavilion flanked by two curved wings. Visitors can also see the remains of a garden layout designed to showcase it, including a circular basin with a cast-iron urn, staircases and tiered pools.
