In Boulleret, in the Cher department, the château de Buranlure retains the architecture of a Berry stronghold built at the turning point between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Visitors pass a semicircular outer courtyard with a dovecote, stables and barns before reaching an inner courtyard dominated by a 15th century main building with windows framed by small columns. Its facade is marked by a stair turret, while the later north and south wings close off the courtyard. Upstairs, a chapel and a fireplace carved with a frieze depicting a battle of horsemen reflect the refinement of the period.
