To make a day of it

Château des Stuarts stands in Aubigny-sur-Nère (Cher), in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: first half of the 16th century, 17th century). Adult admission costs 5 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Located in Aubigny-sur-Nère, this brick and stone castle takes its name from the Stuart family of Aubigny, who had it built in the early 16th century following a fire that had destroyed much of the town. The gatehouse and north wing date from this first building phase, while later alterations were carried out in the 17th century for Louise de Keroualle, Duchess of Portsmouth, and the south wing was rebuilt at the end of the 19th century. The building now houses the town hall along with a space dedicated to the Auld Alliance, the historic bond between Scotland and France.
