What the French Ministry of Culture records
Le domaine comprend le château avec ses communs, une chapelle, un potager et un parc. Le château aurait été construit vers 1537 par Jean Breton, sieur de Villandry, secrétaire des finances de François Ier. L'édifice comprend un grand bâtiment central et deux ailes et n'a presque pas été modifié par la suite. Seules les toitures, dont le plomb a été réquisitionné sous l'Empire, ont été refaites en ardoise.
