To make a day of it

Château de Mocques stands in Saint-Martin-sur-Nohain (Nièvre), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: first quarter of the 17th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de Mocques stands halfway up the slope overlooking the Nohain valley, in the commune of Saint-Martin-sur-Nohain in the Nièvre department. Built in the early 17th century on the foundations of an older seigneurial house, it occupies a former farmyard enclosed by walls, surrounded by Pouilly-fumé vineyards. The visit is mainly from the outside: the façades, roofs and dovecote, facing the mill that once belonged to the same estate.
