Château de la Chaussade stands in Guérigny (Nièvre), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
In Guérigny, the château de la Chaussade shows how an industrial complex could grow around a seigneurial residence: built in 1746 for baron Pierre Badaud de la Chaussade, it served as the administrative heart of the royal forges that supplied the French navy with anchors and chains until 1971. The building combines two wings with an upper floor set in the roof space and a third wing running parallel to them, a layout that once housed both the forge offices and staff quarters. In the south courtyard, a 17th-century doorway brought from the château des Bordes in Urzy points to a history older than the château itself.
