Château de Montbard stands in Montbard (Côte-d'Or), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In Montbard, the remains of a medieval Burgundian stronghold were reshaped in the eighteenth century by the naturalist Buffon into a three-hectare park where he wrote his Histoire naturelle. Visitors can see the Aubespin tower, a polygonal former keep with machicolations and ribbed vaults, along with the Saint-Louis tower, which Buffon altered to house his library, and his study built on the west rampart. The grounds, now a municipal public park and bird sanctuary, adjoin the Buffon museum housed in the former stables.
