Perched on a mound overlooking the Armançon river, the ruins of Rougemont castle are what remains of a medieval keep whose military architecture is thought to date from the late 11th century. Only a half collapsed square tower survives, pierced with arrow slits and doorways, a remnant of a stronghold destroyed after the Armagnac Burgundian conflict of the early 15th century. The site is now an open air ruin, set among a ditch, a mound and a plateau above the river.
