To make a day of it

Château de Rouville stands in Le Malesherbois (Loiret), in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: Middle Ages, 15th century, 19th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

In Le Malesherbois, in the Loiret department, the château de Rouville combines a medieval residence rebuilt in 1492 with nineteenth century alterations carried out in a neo-Renaissance spirit. The terraced U-shaped courtyard, the gallery added by architect Magne from 1863 onward, and interior woodwork gathered from other houses form a layered ensemble. Around the main building stand a private chapel set up in the former parish church, outbuildings, a dovecote and an eighteenth century orangery, within a landscaped park sloping down to the Essonne river.
