Une chapelle castrale est mentionnée au début du 12e siècle. Une reconstruction du château semble avoir été initiée par Bertrand de Panisseau après 1265.3 Le polygone des remparts comprend un châtelet au nord, et deux tours. Le château se compose d'une forteresse repliée derrière un fossé, ainsi que de courtines flanquées de tours ceinturant l'ensemble de la butte. Le château actuel présente des bâtiments du 17e siècle bâtis sur des maçonneries du 13e. Une aile fut rajoutée au 20e siècle.
