What the French Ministry of Culture records

Cette ancienne forteresse fut l'objet d'un remaniement général au 17e siècle. Le corps principal est constitué d'un quadrilatère flanqué de quatre tours rondes aux angles. Sur le soubassement gothique furent montés deux corps de logis au sud et au nord d'une cour intérieure et deux galeries superposées en relient les deux niveaux. Le décor est simple : grandes fenêtres à meneaux, balcons à balustres, porte à bossages. Le Petit Château se trouve du côté sud de l'avant-cour du château. Il est adossé à la courtine orientale et contigu au corps de passage et à la tour d'angle sud-est de l'ancienne basse-cour du 14e siècle. Cette tour abrite un oratoire orné de panneaux en stuc représentant les vertus théologales et cardinales. Cet oratoire se greffe sur un appartement du 17e siècle qui occupe la partie occidentale du petit Château et dont deux pièces ont conservé des cheminées ornées.
