What the French Ministry of Culture records
Au retour du siège de Duras, en 1370, le duc d'Anjou et Du Guesclin s'emparèrent du château qui fut donné ensuite à Archambaud YV, comte de Périgord. Dans une cour fermée par des remparts cernés de tours et d'échauguettes, le château a conservé son corps de logis barlong accosté de tours carrées à mâchicoulis et fenêtres à meneaux. Dans la cour intérieure, porte Louis XIV avec heurtoir en fer forgé.
