To make a day of it
Château de Momas stands in Momas (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Momas Castle has occupied a feudal motte since the 11th century in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques. The manor visitors see today was built in the 16th century as a rectangular lodge flanked by an angled tower. Enlarged in the 17th century and modified afterwards, it bears traces of its evolution: 18th-century panelling, a 19th-century fireplace decorated with wine press screws, and surviving ramparts from the former fortification. Around the main building stand the barn and wine-making building, constructed of pebbles and bricks.
