Haras national stands in Gelos (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 18th century, 19th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Originally built in 1784 by the baron de Duplaa, the Haras national in Gélos underwent a remarkable transformation. Napoleon visited the site in 1808 and designated it to house a major stud farm. The main residence, extended by two pavilions during the nineteenth century, merges aristocratic refinement with the requirements of equine breeding. The entrance hall features a monumental staircase with ironwork salvaged from a demolished Pau mansion.
