L'édifice a été commandité par lord Mortimer Davis. Construit vers 1880 en pierre blanche, l'édifice de plan massé se rapproche par ses dimensions et son style des villas bourgeoises édifiées sous le Second Empire dans la banlieue parisienne, et emprunte le vocabulaire architectural du 18e siècle (percements réguliers allongés, linteaux ornés d'agrafes à feuillages, combles brisés, chaînes d'angle à bossages en table). Le jardin, relié au parc par un passage souterrain traité en rocaille, est clos par un portail en ferronnerie rehaussé de dorures. A l'intérieur, boiseries sculptées, parquets en marqueterie, garnitures de quincaillerie en bronze ciselé, plafonds peints en trompe-l'oeil, corniches en stuc. Les décors s'inspirent de la Renaissance ou du 18e siècle.
