The Château des Faugs stands in Boffres, in the Ardèche region, built from plans drawn by the composer Vincent d'Indy himself, who lived there from 1890 onward. Construction began in 1883 under the direction of master builder Tracol, giving the house a broad main building topped by a steep slate roof pierced with ornate dormer windows. A chapel, built at the same time as the house, completes the estate.
