Château d'Aubenas stands in Aubenas (Ardèche), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century, 18th century). Adult admission costs 9 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Standing on the highest point of Aubenas, this castle overlooks the middle valley of the Ardèche river from a limestone outcrop once used as a watch post. Six noble families occupied it in succession from the 13th century until the Revolution, each leaving its own mark: the keep and round towers built by the Montlaur, the mullioned-window tower of the Maubec, the Italian-style loggia of the Modène. Taken over by the town in 1810, the building reopened in 2024 as a contemporary art venue after several years of restoration work.
