To make a day of it

Château de la Motte stands in Chalandray (Vienne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: second half of the 15th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In Chalandray, in the Vienne department, the Château de la Motte shows the layout typical of the late Middle Ages: a rectangular main building flanked by two round towers and served by a pentagonal stair tower. Built in the second half of the 15th century by Louis de Montbron, it still has large finely carved mullioned windows outside and two carved feline figures beneath the gables. Inside, the original room layout survives, each room with its own fireplace, along with a spiral staircase whose steps are shaped to catch the light.
