To make a day of it

Château de Guirbaden stands in Mollkirch (Bas-Rhin), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 11th century, 12th century, 13th century, 14th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

On the Burckberg hill above Mollkirch stand the ruins of Guirbaden, once the largest fortified castle in Alsace. Founded in the 11th century, the stronghold endured five centuries of sieges and rebuilding before being torn down in 1657. Visitors can still see a Romanesque manor house with round-arched windows, several fortified gates and a chapel scattered around a courtyard now overgrown with vegetation.
