To make a day of it

Barrage Vauban stands in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In Strasbourg, the Vauban dam is a fortified pont-écluse spanning the Ill river close to the Petite France district. Visitors mainly climb to its rooftop terrace, which gives an open view over the covered bridges and the cathedral. Inside, a passage named after Georges Frankhauser holds plaster casts of cathedral statues and occasionally hosts temporary exhibitions.
