To make a day of it

Château de Pourtalès stands in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century, 19th century, 20th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Set in the Robertsau park on the northeastern edge of Strasbourg, the château de Pourtalès bears the marks of successive alterations, from its eighteenth-century origins to the renovations carried out by Countess Mélanie de Pourtalès at the end of the nineteenth century. Visitors mainly come for the surrounding English-style park, open to the public, with its ponds, greenhouse and dovecote. The building itself, now home to a university campus, is not open to the same kind of visit as its grounds.
