At the western edge of the village of Kolbsheim in Alsace stands an 18th-century château, the only one remaining of two noble residences that once stood in the commune. The estate is best known for its garden, awarded the Jardin remarquable label, and for its ties to the philosophers Jacques and Raïssa Maritain, who spent long periods here. Visitors can see a wing dated by an inscription to 1703, terraced grounds, and a stone Stations of the Cross carved by sculptor Philippe Kaeppelin.
