To make a day of it
Château d'Étoges stands in Étoges (Marne), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
In Étoges, on the Côte des Blancs in Champagne, stands a château rebuilt in the early 17th century on the foundations of a medieval stronghold, inspired by the Place Royale in Paris. Springs still feed the wide moats and pools surrounding the building, giving it a character poised between defence and leisure. Two wings extend from the main residence, one featuring an arcaded gallery topped by an interior gallery, the whole crowned with domed corner towers. The site once welcomed kings and sovereigns travelling along the old royal road to Strasbourg.
