What the French Ministry of Culture records
Mentionnés dès le 11e siècle, les bâtiments semblent dater du 16e siècle, époque de leur reconstruction. Le château bas présente un décor de baies à meneaux caractéristiques de la première Renaissance. A côté, deux tours arasées devaient recevoir des canons. Deux ailes du château bas ont été supprimées au 19e siècle. Le château haut, édifié plus tard, porte la date de 1577. Le plan du bâtiment associe à une référence ancienne (un donjon carré cantonné de tours circulaires) une idée novatrice : le cantonnement de la terrasse du château par des tours en forme de bastion. Le rez-de-chaussée se compose de pièces voûtées sur nervures d'ogives. Dans les lambris du grand salon, à l'étage, le graveur et décorateur de théâtre Cicéri a installé en 1851 des toiles peintes s'inspirant des gravures de Sébastien Bourdon. Le châtelet d'entrée avec ses tourelles en brique est également un ajout du 19e siècle. Autour du château, parc et potager.
