To make a day of it

Ancien archevêché, actuellement Palais du Tau stands in Reims (Marne), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 15th century, 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Standing next to Reims Cathedral, the Palais du Tau was the residence of the archbishops and the lodging of French kings during their coronation. The building takes its name from its former T-shaped plan, and combines late 15th-century flamboyant Gothic features with the classical remodelling carried out by Robert de Cotte at the end of the 17th century. Rebuilt after the shelling of the First World War, it now houses the museum devoted to the cathedral and the royal coronations.
