On the hill of Saint-Thierry, in the Marne department, stand the remains of a Benedictine abbey founded around the year 500, first dedicated to Saint Bartholomew before the cult of its founder, Thierry du Mont d'Hor, took precedence. Attached to the Congregation of Saint-Maur, the abbey was suppressed at the end of the 17th century and almost entirely demolished in 1777, leaving only the 12th-century chapter house standing. These ruins, now listed as a historic monument, bear witness to a monastic history spanning more than a thousand years, revived since 1968 by Benedictine nuns settling on the site.
