Château de Cadillac stands in Cadillac-sur-Garonne (Gironde), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 17th century). Adult admission costs 7 EUR. Its opening hours and prices were verified at the source on August 13, 2026.
The ducal château of Cadillac stands at the north-western edge of the bastide town of the same name, on the banks of the Garonne. Built at the end of the 16th century for the Duke of Épernon, it can be explored across four levels, from the basement to the upper floors, with painted shutters, ornate ceilings and a set of period tapestries. The building also carries the memory of a very different chapter, as it served as a women's prison for close to a century and a half.
