Château du Cros stands in Loupiac (Gironde), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Perched on a hill above the Garonne river in Loupiac, Gironde, the ruins of the château du Cros preserve the outline of a fortress begun in the 12th century. Visitors can see one tower still roofed, another with its top missing, a 17th-century pavilion and sections of wall, the remains of a stronghold that stayed inhabited until the Second World War, when German forces blew it up before withdrawing. Left abandoned ever since, the site has been under restoration since 2010 thanks to a local association.
