To make a day of it

Château Faugas stands in Gabarnac (Gironde), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Château Faugas stands in Gabarnac, in the Gironde, on a site occupied since Gallo-Roman times, its rectangular main house dating back to the 13th century. Enlarged in the 16th century with a new wing, a keep and corner towers, then completed by farm buildings in the 18th century, the estate overlooks a hilly landscape on the right bank of the Garonne river. The grounds, now a working vineyard, cover fifteen hectares planted with red and white grape varieties.

What to know

  • The château sits at the heart of a working vineyard, so a visit tends to focus on the estate as much as on the buildings.
  • The towers, keep and part of the farm buildings date from different periods, from the 13th to the 18th century.
  • No verified opening hours or admission prices are available, so it is best to check directly with the estate.
  • The site is rural and set on a hillside, meaning the grounds around the buildings are not flat.
