Ce château est un exemple de demeure auvergnate du 18e siècle, construite dans le goût italien. Larges fenêtres, abondance de chaînages et de bandeaux de pierre grise encadrant des enduits blancs, balustrade en bordure de toiture, escaliers extérieurs et terrasse, sans oublier le parterre à la française, telles sont les caractéristiques de ces grandes habitations villageoises ou de ces châteaux construits par l'aristocratie ou la bourgeoisie aisée du 18e siècle dans la région. Dans une cour intérieure, présence d'un tympan du 14e ou 15e siècle portant un décor féodal d'écu armorié.
