Palais urbain d'époque médiévale construit au 14e siècle pour Pierre de Via, beau-frère du pape Jean XXII. Palais remanié au 17e siècle, puis transformé en établissement pénitentiaire. L'ancien phare du 14e siècle, qui servait à indiquer aux bateliers le port de Cahors, serait en fait une cheminée (actuellement déposée). L'ouvrage se présente sous la forme d'une colonne octogonale construite en briques et flanquée, à partir de son tiers inférieur, d'un petit contrefort. A la partie supérieure, cette colonne est surmontée d'une lanterne en pierre coiffée d'une petite pyramide octogonale en briques, couronnée par un fleuron en pierre.
