What the French Ministry of Culture records

L'ensemble fortifié est établi sur un éperon rocheux au confluent des vallées de la Flèche et d'un de ses afflents. Il est composé de plusieurs parties. L'éperon est barré à sa racine par un fossé profond qui pourrait être antérieur au Moyen-Age (âge du Fer ?). Sur l'éperon sont aménagés une première basse-cour défendue par un fossé sec et une levée de terre ; une motte située au milieu de l'éperon, très volumineuse (10 m de haut, pour 30 m de large) est entourée d'un large et profond fossé sec et est surmontée d'une construction en pierres ; une deuxième basse-cour est située à l'extrémité.
