To make a day of it

Château du Taureau stands in Plouezoc'h (Finistère), in the Bretagne region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 17th century, first quarter of the 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Perched on a rocky islet at the entrance to the Bay of Morlaix, the château du Taureau can only be reached by boat, whatever the tide. This fort, reworked over more than two centuries under Vauban and his successors, shows how coastal military architecture evolved through time. Visitors find an early artillery tower, low ramparts built to withstand the sea, and wide views over the bay.
